Now this is more like it! Up until now it hasn't really felt like we have been on Antarctica, as the landings have all been dry soil. Cuverville made up
for that & some! After a short time touring round the icebergs in the bay, we made our way in to land through the "growlers" and "bergy bits" as
Martin called them. Brash ice floated around right up to the waters edge, and an initial landing on pebbles was followed by our first snowlandscape.

Cuverville is home to one of the largest Gentoo colonies in the area. You could quite clearly see the penguin highways in the snow, where they
traversed the slopes to & from the breeding grounds. We were on strict orders to ensure we didn't tread in any of these paths, as the footprints
could cause a penguin to fall and injury itself. (I spent most of my time on the way back to the beach at the end, filling in other peoples footprints.)
