On day 2 in the Drakes Passage the conditions had started to get a little rougher, with a 3 metre swell & visibility was reduced by
the foggy wet conditions. More bird watching was the order of the day, apart from a lecture on Icebergs & the Antarctic ice shelves,
and a competition to guess the location of the 1st sighted iceberg!

The lecture after lunch was a little more serious, outlining the code of conduct on Antarctica, 'IAATO lecture' and a briefing on getting
in and out of the zodiacs, (without getting wet!)

After the serious talks at lunch time, dinner in the evening was much more entertaining! On every seat was a large brown bag,
with all the necessary toys for a good new year party! Masks & silly hats were donned, football whistles & rattles to make as much noise
as possible, and silly string flying everywhere! After dinner, Monika led everyone in a sing song from each nation.
Tales of Pirates & Vikings, Danny boy, My old mans a dustman & a melodic tune from the Japanese!

Then it was time to retire to the bar & start celebrating each nationalites new year. This culminated in serious drinking, lots of dancing
& most of the russian crew joining in, with some russina pop music on the cd player. An excellent new year party, well organised by Phil.
