Our 2nd landing was at an argentinean base station, which looked very dauntingly with a Naval warship anchored in the bay! However, the greeting was extremely
warm, and was interesting to see several young children running around. The station commander Juan showed us some of the facilities around the base and also told
explained the rather odd looking stone building was of great historical importance, as it was the shelter created by a Swedish Expedition in 1902, led by
Dr Otto Nordeskold, when their ship got stuck in the ice and they had to take refuge there for a year.

Also onshore were a Japanese film crew who were making a film on the day to day life, working on an Antarctica base & filming the Adelie Penguins in the area.

In the Mess Room was probably the oldest rickety table football game I have ever seen & John & Jude took on some of the locals for an international match.
The locals obviously had to much spare time on their hands, John declared, after a crushing defeat!
